Every Bit of Information You Need About Soccer Betting

The prospect of betting on such an unpredictable sport can seem very daunting, but this guide to a few of the bets you can place should help you discover that soccer betting is not as scary as it may seem. With the popularity of soccer came a strong need for placeable bets, meaning you have a way to get involved in the games without actually going to watch them or supporting a certain team.

The search for your first bookmaker is another section of this whole task that can appear challenging, but here at The Rockies, we have already provided a list of bookmakers and even written some reviews for you to find the best one!

Full Time Result Bets

With any sporting event, there has to be a winner. In Full Time Result bets, you are choosing which team you think will win any chosen game. As an example, you could look at Forge v FC Edmonton and quite happily say that Forge will win. Of course, the Bookmakers will also know that this is the obvious outcome, and would offer lower odds for it.

Over and Under Bets

The Over and Under markets are quite expansive, with the potential to bet on how many goals, yellow cards, red cards and corners you think there will be in a game. These bets will usually be presented in values written as 0.5, 1.5, 2.5 and so on. To explain simply, Over 0.5 means ONE OR MORE goals, Over 2.5 means THREE OR MORE goals and so on.

Both Teams To Score (BTTS) Bets

In a lot of soccer games, the teams could be very evenly matched and it is quite likely that both teams will manage to get on the games scoresheet. For this reason, the BTTS market was introduced and gives you the option to place a bet on whether you think the game will be one-sided or not. It is completely likely that a game could finish with a clean sheet (no goals conceded) on one side – or even both – but with most high leagues there is a decent chance for Both Teams to Score

Correct Score Bets

As you would expect, Correct Score betting is where you place a wager on what you think will be the exact outcome of a game. The odds for different scores will be different, as the bookmakers could think that certain scores are more realistic than others. For example, Forge v Cavalry ending in a 2-2 draw is probably more likely than the Wanderers beating Forge 3-0, so the second option would have much higher odds than the first.

Scorecast Bets

A slight step up from Correct Score betting, adding another layer of accuracy but also another layer of reward. In Scorecast bets, you not only predict the final score of the game, but you are predicting which player will score first in the game. Of course, you can lose these bets within a short amount of time if the wrong person scores the first goal, but if you manage to predict both things correctly, you will be rewarded highly.

Player Bets

There are a lot of markets for specific player bets, including things like Goalscorer markets, Disciplinary markets (yellow/red cards), Shots on Target and other stats like Passes and Tackles which are offered on higher league games like the English Premier League. If you combine a few of these bets on one game, such as choosing 2 goal scorers and 2 people to get carded, the odds will be very appetising. You can choose these bets based on current player form, so you have some sort of leeway.

Outright Bets

All of the previously mentioned bets are mainly focused on single games in a competition, but with Outright Betting, you are looking at the outcome of an entire competition. For example, you could look at the CSL and choose which team you think is going to win the entire competition when the season finishes. The bookies are clever with how they change the odds for these markets, often switching them if a certain team is in better form than usual.

Summary

We hope this article has helped you understand the wide variety of soccer bets you can place, and also helped you choose which ones are going to be the most realistic and the most rewarding. Remember to always gamble responsibly and never stake more than you can afford to lose.
