Before we jump into next week’s predictions on the football, we would like to reflect on some of the shocking results we saw in Gameweek 8, and also reflect on some of our successful and not-so-successful predictions from those games. We will start off by saying that from a total of 8 correct predictions from 16 total given, with some horror results seeing Manchester United losing 4-2 to Leicester, and Wolves gaining a 3-2 victory over Aston Villa within the final 10 minutes of their game.

Some of the other results from Gameweek 8 included a lacklustre performance from Bielsa’s injury-blown Leeds United, which saw his 150th game end in a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Southampton. Everton invited West Ham to Goodison Park on Saturday, which saw Everton lose 1-0 in a home fixture that could have easily been theirs for the taking. Brentford put up another great display against a strong Chelsea side, but unfortunately could not find the net and took our third 1-0 loss in this week of EPL football.

Now, moving on to the future, Gameweek 9 of the Premier League will hold some of the best fixtures we have seen since the start of the season. We will first pick out our three favourite upcoming games, each with 3 EPL Predictions that will have a Confidence Rating (CR) from 1 to 5. This confidence will be spurred from our research, but as proven last week, sometimes the stats mean nothing! We will then give one small prediction for the rest of the fixtures, followed by a summary of the upcoming week.

Chelsea vs Norwich (October 23rd, 12:30pm BST)

When you look at the current Premier League table, and you take into consideration the form of both of these teams, you will see why we have put them in our three top picks for the week. Chelsea are in brilliant form, shimmying between the top 3 positions on the table consistently, and Norwich have only managed to secure 2 points out of 8 games (6 losses, 2 draws). Chelsea have a few goalscorers, and the Norwich defence is clearly very easy to break, with them conceding an average of 1.88 goals in every Away game.

(All Odds correct on Bet365 as of October 18th)

Half Time/Full Time to be Chelsea/Chelsea (CR: 5/5) | Odds at 1.57

Chelsea to Win to Nil (CR: 5/5) | Odds at 1.62

Romelu Lukaku anytime goalscorer (CR: 5/5) | Odds at 1.53

Brighton vs Manchester City (October 23rd, 5:30pm BST)

In the early doors of this EPL season, we have seen Brighton flying ahead of their opponents in basically every game. They failed to put any goals past the tragically-flawed Norwich in their last meeting, but they have good stats overall and a decently strong side. Manchester City, as can only be expected from a team worth so much money, are putting a good contest in the top 4 of the league table. This matchup will be a test for Brighton, as well as a test of Guardiola’s men who actually lost 3-2 to Brighton in their meeting earlier this year.

(All Odds correct on bet O bet as of October 18th)

Both Teams To Score – Yes (CR: 5/5) | Odds at 2.00

Over 2.5 match goals (CR: 4/5) | Odds at 1.71

Over 0.5 First Half Cards (CR: 4/5) | Odds at 1.57

Manchester United vs Liverpool (October 24th, 4.30pm BST)

Manchester United have been struggling with form currently, which comes as a major blow considering the squad they have built up. Mason Greenwood scored a world-class goal in their meeting with Leicester, which was partnered with a goal from Marcus Rashford, but this wasn’t enough and they lost in a 4-2 battle. Liverpool are steaming forward in the league, with the Salah, Mane and Firmino trio back on track. Firmino managed to get a hattrick against Watford with Salah and Mane making it a 5-0 victory. This game should be a very tough test for both Klopp and Solskjær.

(All Odds correct on PowerPlay as of October 18th)

Over 2.5 match goals (CR: 5/5) | Odds at 1.66

Both Teams To Score – Yes (CR: 4/5) | Odds at 1.53

Other EPL Predictions

Arsenal vs Aston Villa – Ings & Aubameyang 1+ Shot on Target Each (CR: 5/5)

Leeds United vs Wolves – Over 6.5 Match Corners (CR: 5/5)

Summary

We are hoping to improve on our 50% win ratio from last week, but as we always state, betting on football, especially on somebody else’s EPL predictions, is uncertain and the stats are not always as helpful as they may seem. We put a lot of research into our predictions, and we try to use statistics where possible, backing them up with further details if we are not 100% certain of the stats themselves. Have fun, bet responsibly!
